E.D.A ft Rico White & G.O.D – Okpeke
Posted on March 12th, 2009 by Mola OGE.D.A is an emerging naija rapper who resides in North Carolina, USA. You can get more info on him here
E.D.A and the crew did their thing. I’m really diggin the old skool feel on this track right here, we need more of this… Up and coming producers should start sampling some Alex Zitto, Mike Okri, Junior and Pretty and Bright Chimeze songs. Enjoy!

Nah, not feeling it.
I like where the idea was, to sample some old school Naija jams. I want to see more of that, but you’ve got to mix that ish and make it sizzle. It’s not enough to just put the original soundtrack on loop.
As for the verses, they were terrible. Rico was the best, by far, but he wasn’t really comfortable with the track’s tempo. A dope producer might have slowed the track down a bit (say, 20 to 30%), pitch-shifted the chorus sample, thrown in some original drums, added some new bass, gotten some backup singers to lay additional vocals… that would have been fire!
Nice concept. Now go back and do it right.
I guess u ar right, man…I guess da decision to spit on da original beat was financial…
I hope they take ur observation on board and do their next track right….
Heard dis track on sturvs.com…..really hot track indeed..luvin da oldskool concept…from da myspace tracks…..i think E.D.A’s a better lyricist in pidgin/Naija english…..and da 3rd guy’z flow wuz too fast…….good job guyz
this track is really HoTT i heard it on E.D.A’s myspace… rico white, E.D.A and g.o.d killed it … i love all the verses…
kudos bois … we need more of yall colabo…
I prefer Rico White’s rhyme to E.D.A’s and G.O.D’s…and yes “okpeke track is fire” but I’m not sure it was done justice in this track.
The chorus is too much and is making me smile. Anyway, I am all about sampling old school Naija artists. The quality of their material (for most) is unquestionable.
For what they did, I have to congratulate them. It is a good beat that could do with a little more work to really put it on par with what Naija producers are creating right now. I would love to see them dirty this up some more and re-release it. Goodluck guys.
