W.A.V.E. – Mo Feran Re
Posted on July 19th, 2009 by Ovie OWith the volume of music coming out of Naija, every now and then (well, maybe 1 in 100 songs), you hear a track that gives you goosebumps. A song that gets you thinking: Who’s this? What is he doing? And why is he sitting in the shadows? WAVE, real name Oluwamayowa Korode, is one of those.
WAVE is currently the lead vocalist of the Brodaz of Cherub and the C&S Youth Fellowship Choir in Lagos. He’s a proud Kings College Alumnus, and he also earned his Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from the University of Lagos.
I was actually forced to ring him up just to hear from the horse’s mouth, and see what he’s exactly up to. He’s primarily a Contemporary Gospel singer, and he plans to give the genre a new face in the Nigerian music industry. While loosely affiliated with a record label, WAVE is very much open to securing a lucrative record deal with whoever shares his vision and passion for churning out quality music.
Listen and let me know what you think…

Boy can belt out those notes…I just hope watever label he signs on to doesn’t water him down and over “Nigerianize” him as all music coming outta naija tends to be…This is international range right here…with universal lyrics…this is an example of infusing our local lingo and still producing international sound…FLOREAT bruv
