Sonya ‘La-La’ Irabor – No One Like You + Mr. Swagger

Posted on November 8th, 2009 by Mola OG

Sonya is a different kind of artist and I am confused as to what genre she fits in. However when you ask her, she will tell you that her style falls in between retro, soulful, funky, sexy and fun.

She has a good voice and the songs have an old school feel. I like Mr Swagger better though.

@areaboi… (*PAUSE*) Well EXCUSE me! Both songs DO NOT start the same way except for the production which has already been cleared up so I DO NOT KNOW why you’re being ignorant about it.

And @ I keeps it real… about the melodies? Back2Back’s version is a rap song and if you listen, the choruses are different styles and the beats direct most of both songs to sound so alike but they defintely DO NOT have the same melody in the choruses and bridge, it’s plain to see that they used the same production and there’s really nothing else to it. You say you ‘keeps it real’ but yet you’re giving homegirl grief 4 sufin she has said was a honest coincidence (what happened to taking people’s words?). Young girl’s tryna make good music, why don’t we just let her.

YO YOU CANT TELL ME THE MELODY IS NOT THE SAME… YOU MUST BE TONE DEAF (NO DISRESPECT) AND TO YOUNG GIRL, JUST TAKE THIS AS A WELCOME INTO THE MUSIC WORLD, DONT LET THIS DISCOURAGE YOU, JUST KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING AND TRY TO STAY ORIGINAL, YOU CAN BE INFLUENCED BY A SONG OR ARTIST BUT MAKE SURE WHATEVER YOU DO MAKE IT YOURS, MEANING DONT COPY AND PASTE.. I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK.. I’LL STOP BUGGING YOU

IT WOULD HURT IF SOMEONE ELSE TRIED TO TAKE CREDIT FOR YOUR WORK TOO..

OH PLEASE… THIS IS GETTING OLD NOW & QUITE PATHETIC. YOU’RE SOUNDING LIKE A BROKEN RECORD ABOUT IT (NO DISRESPECT). SHE’S USING THE PRODUCTION LEGITIMATELY AND SO IS THE OTHER GUY AND AS FAR AS THAT GOES, THAT’S REALLY ALL THERE IS BUT YOU WANT TO BE UNNECESSARILY AND UNFAIRLY PEDANTIC ABOUT IT, WHO AM I TO STOP YOU? CARRY ON WITH YOU COONERY. ABOUT DONT COPY AND PASTE, OH GET OUT OF TOWN WITH ALL THAT NONSENSE. AND FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES, LET’S MOVE ON OR RATHER I’M MOVING ON.

I think she has explained the situation perfectly. Leave the girl alone and stop being internet bullies, its not a good look kmt! & about the melody, not sure you know a thing about music because seeing as they used the same production as a coincidence, ofcourse both songs will sound d same down to the melody but yeah just allow the babe. Her song is far better anyway and she obviously didn’t steal nothing. I’m done here

YEAH I KNOW WHERE U GOT THE BEAT FROM… BUT HOW DO YOU COME UP WITH THE SAME MELODY? TO ME THAT SOUNDS LIKE COPYING THAT IS NO COINCIDENCE .. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH DOING A SIMILAR TRACK.. BUT TAKING SOMEONES WORK AND CALLING IT YOURS IN NOT THE WAY TO GO IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY THATS ALL I HAVE TO SAY…

Hi, I just want to clear this up and say that I did not steal anything from the other artiste. I got this beat off a website that allows you to use their instrumentals for anything that is not for profit without purchase. I first got this beat in 2008, recorded it on my laptop and posted it on my myspace site… I only re-recorded it over the summer this year. I assure you i didn’t steal it from back2back. The beat itself is titled No One Like You so it’s rather inevitable that an artiste would write a song/hook that includes the title. It is nothing but a coincidence and I apologise for any misunderstanding.

God bless you.

WOW THE BEATS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME & TRUST ME, I WAS SURPRISED TO HEAR THAT AS SONYA WILL BE WHEN SHE SEES THIS BUT THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS THAT NOBODY SHE WAS WORKING WITH AT THE TIME COULD GIVE HER THE SOUND SHE WANTED & NOT KNOWING WHERE ELSE TO LOOK, SHE WENT ON THE WEB AND BOUGHT THAT INSTRUMENTAL ONLINE, POSSIBLY FROM THE SAME PEOPLE THAT ‘BACK2BACK’ BOUGHT IT FROM OR FROM THE PRODUCER THAT MADE IT FOR ‘BACK2BACK’ WITHOUT KNOWING THAT IT HAD BEEN USED BEFORE, THINKING SHE WAS BUYING AN ORIGINAL PIECE OF WORK, AND SHE OBVIOUSLY THOUGHT SHE WAS PAYING FOR THE RIGHTS TO THE BEATS AS YOU WOULD BUT THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW THE MUSIC BUSINESS IS, ITS SHADY LIKE THAT & A YOUNG 19-YEAR OLD JUST TRYNA DO WHAT SHE LOVES CAN GET BITTEN BY IT.

YOU CAN BE REST ASSURED THAT THE E.P SHE’S WORKING ON NOW IS LACED WITH ORIGINAL & ORGANIC SOUNDS FROM VERY GOOD PRODUCERS & COLLABORATORS (WITHOUT GIVING ANYTHING AWAY)

I WILL REITERATE THAT SHE NEVER STOLE THIS BEAT AND I SUPPOSE SHE NEEDS TO COME IN HERE AND TELL YOU HERSELF BUT I THOUGHT IT BEST TO CLEAR UP THE MIX-UP AS BEST I CAN NOW.

Sonya didn’t steal any of these songs from anybody! She wrote both songs herself and if the person who’s laying these claims down CANNOT back them up with real truths then WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT?
