VIDEO: Lami – Ori Mi Wu ft Ice Prince
Posted on February 21st, 2012 by Ovie OSoulful Diva, Lami, teams up with hotshot rapper, Ice Prince, on this video for the lovely single “Ori Mi Wu” which was released sometime last year. Lami has been able to carve a niche for herself by creating sweet “mature” music that carries powerful words/meaning. It’s one of those songs that’ll still sound fresh 5 years from now.

We caught up with Lami and asked her a few questions about her song and new project. See her answers below.
How would your experience after the release of your 1st album?
Pleasantly surprised and humbled by the love and support shown. The position as a UN Envoy came shortly after.Things kinda went super fast. I decided to slow down,reflect and start work on the next album.
What influence your latest single Ori Mi wu?
The next album is titled “Pieces of love”. I reflect on the seasons of love and this song Orimiwu just describes that moment when u know ur whipped; the moment when u know thats the person you want to be with for good. Orimiwu was my first attempt at co-producing. I really wanted to ease into the next project so its soft,easy and sweet
Is there an album in the works? How does it differ from the 1st album sound and experience wise?
The next album “pieces of love” carries more of me in it. I’ve been recording for months in the UK and Lagos… I’m being selective about what goes on it. People who listened to the first will relate. Its still AfroNeoSoul but with varying vibes depending on the message of the song. Its early days so fingers crossed.
What do we expect from Lami next?
I’m working on a lot of music, involved in an Oxfam project “AfricansAct4Africa” and shooting videos for the album. I’m happy…I love what i do …and I appreciate the love im being shown. Not everyone gets to live thier dream.

Ice Prince is everywhere. This guy is on d grind big time but this particular video dry sha. na use troway. camera Indecision @ 2:33? Compared to Lynxx vid Tom Robson dint measure up here for me. The song's cool though.

There is something really unsettling about the video. No chemistry at all between the two. Maybe because Lami has shot a love song with fellow Choc boy M.I., which I think was well shot.
I think the director's vision was to emphasize on some chemistry between the two characters, which wasn't evident. Maybe her husband was on set…

I hear Lami is refusing to acknowledge the young Nigerian producer who produced this song. First, she didn't pay for production, and second she's taking the producer's credits. We condemn bad leaders everyday but we do worse in our private lives and businesses. It is well sha.
