Smiley Is A Fraudster!

Posted on May 18th, 2010 by Ovie O

Ladies and gentlemen, sadly, it has come to our knowledge that the artiste Smiley, who we chose as our current notjustOk Hype, is indeed NOT A REAL ARTISTE but a mere impostor and a CON ARTISTE.

At the start of March, we first featured Smiley as a way of introducing her to the Nigerian online community. The quality of her music (or so we thought) was so good that she instantly started garnering fans from all corners, including major artistes, record labels, fellow bloggers and other industry observers.

But on Sunday, May 16th, Gidilounge.com posted some startling revelations about this said artiste, and it’s been the talk of Twitter since then. Smiley is not the innocent and charming 19-year-old Italian-born Nigerian-raised music bombshell we all thought she was. Rather, she is a perfect embodiment of fraud, lies and deceit.

NONE of Smiley’s songs (including those on Reverbnation and Facebook) were actually written, produced or performed by her. Instead, according to the latest findings, she basically STOLE songs from other relatively-unknown artistes and sent them in as hers.

To that effect, notjustOk.com would like to take this opportunity to apologise to the whole Nigerian online community for unknowingly promoting fraudulent content, and from this moment, all ties with the CON ARTIST, Giovanna Adetoke “Smiley” Akindele, are totally dissolved.

“Smiley” has shut down all her Social Networking/online accounts including her blog, Twitter, Reverbnation and Facebook. Artistes she stole from include – but are not limited to -  the following:

Rugged Man & 9ice’s Private Phone Conversation on Toni Payne (LEAKED)

rugged 9ice Toni Rugged Man & 9ices Private Phone Conversation on Toni Payne (LEAKED)

First of all read Ruggedy Baba’s message below to get background on the situation and then listen to the song.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

It started as a rumour that 9ice caught his wife Toni Payne giving Ruggedman a blow job.I wondered where such a terrible rumour emanated from only to find out it was from 9ices song titled ”once bitten twice shy”.In the song done by my own friend,he sang that he saw his ”girl” (Not his wife Toni Payne) giving his ”friend”(Not Ruggedman) a blow job.Since 9ice himself did not mention anybodys name in the said song I thought nothing of the evil, wicked rumour, but it spread wider and i heard a lot of people started assuming a lot and i have been called so many things by people over something i did not do.

Even some shameless soft sells unproffessionally published the rumour based on heresay, without talking to the partys involved, but i dont blame them. Some will publish anything just to sell.

I expected 9ice as a friend to come out and clear it up by announcing to people that it was not me he sang about in his song but till date he has not done so to reasons best known to him i guess.I called 9ice to talk about it and clear it up and he said so many things including that he will not come out and clear my name that has been dragged into a maliscous rumour.
I did not want to believe that 9ice has refused to clear it up because it is helping his album sales like some people have said.I did not want to believe it but I am happy i recorded the conversation and I want you all to hear for urselves what he said to me so that this rumour can stop once and for all.

Hear 9ice himself now and know that NOTHING OF THAT NATURE EVER HAPPENED BETWEEN TONI PAYNE AND RUGGEDMAN.

Pls after this,if anybody dares to mention my name in such a thing again its only God that will deal with such a person. ” Ruggedman

Radio Exclusive: African China Slams Timaya

Posted on September 4th, 2009 by Ovie O

Ajegunle/Orile Ambassador, African China has surprisingly slammed Timaya in an interview conducted yesterday by the homie, Tola on Rhythm 93.7 FM. Tola simply asked African China if there was any truth in the rumours of him “downtalking” Timaya in the news… and this was the reply, citing Timaya’s statements in one of his tracks as “allowing his ego and pride take over him.”

The Timaya track with the “somewhat controversial” lyrics: I Don Blow

Could this be an issue of envy? Could it just be a publicity stunt to aid the sales of African China’s recently released album “The Return of the Legend”? Or could there really be underlying beef?!?! Only time will tell. In any case, something’s not right somewhere…
