It is finally here; the notjustOk top 20 videos for 2009. All the videos in the countdown were derived from these votes. We cut them into 3 parts and uploaded the videos to youtube so that the good folks in Nigeria can watch the show comfortably. Feel free to give your feedback.
Be on the look-out for Alaye’s new album “Flight” which will be released under SugarKane Ent. and Storm Records. You can also download the “Undeniable” mixtape right here, if you haven’t done so.
Here is a new offereing from the ‘Undeniable’ mixtape by Alaye hosted by Tim Westwood. Now, before you jump and say ‘how is it possible, I thought Biggie was dead’, know that this is a mixtape track and the biggie vocals were on the the original version of the ‘Can’t Stop the Reign’ track with Shaq which was recorded in 1997 (I had to say that for the non hip-hop heads).
“Alaye is back with the “Undeniable” mixtape hosted by the legendaryhip-hop Uk DJ, Tim Westwood. This Mixtape is a compilation of mixtape tracks and original songs that featured on mixtape’s released on the streets of London between 2005 and 2007. It features remakes of popular hits like, Damian Marley’s “Welcome To Jamrock”, Kanye West’s “Diamonds” & Tony Yayo’s “So Seductive”.
‘Lagos State of Mind’ is an exclusive track that will appear on Alaye’s up coming mixtape which will be hosted by Tim Westwood (Westwood is a Legend and the main purveyor of HIP Hop in the Uk for the past 25 years and more).
Also, there is also an album in the works called ‘Flight’ and it will be released under Alaye’s label SugerKane Ent and Storm Records. In the mean time, go ahead and enjoy the 2 new tracks from the album. The one track called ‘Eyes Dont Lie’ features Naeto C, nice and slow jam while MayD features on ‘Ride It’ which is more of an uptempo track.
As usual Alaye spits some major barz on all the tracks; I am diggin the ‘Lagos State of Mind’ joint, I can already tell that the mixtape will be quite SICK!!!
Here is another track from Show Dem Camp (SDC) that did not make the album. Watch out for their official 2nd single ‘Dreamer’ coming out soon, but before that expect see a video for their first single ‘Tell Me Nothing‘ some time this month.
The hook on this joint has tendencies of causing rowdiness among club goers in the club; “Fi Han Won Ye Ye Fi Han Won” means ‘Show Dem Ye Ye Show Dem‘…
I noticed that on the last notjustOk Select post someone felt some kind of way about the songs selected. So I will make this bold, notjustOk select is not a Top 10 list of any kind and there is no underlying reason why one song is listed before the other; there is no first or last.
notjustOk Select – 10 is a list of ten songs/posts that have made a major impact on the listeners/readers in a given month. Several factors come into determining how big of an impact a single post made in a given month, such as page views, record breaking amount of comments and constant mp3 request for the specific song. In addition to spotlighting the select 10s, we will provide a download link so that you can save the mp3s.
June was the month of the female rappers; Sasha came with her new single ‘Gidi Babe’, Kel blessed us with a new joint off her upcoming album followed by its video and Zara dropped the ‘Su Mo Bi’ track. Enjoy!
It is safe to say that Storm records is getting ready to dominate the 2nd half of 2009. Cameo appearances by PSquare, May D, Bracket and SDC (Show Dem Camp)… This is the 1st single and video off Alaye’s debut album
