notjustOk Select-10 (June ‘10)

Posted on August 3rd, 2010 by Mola OG

June 2010 was a lovely month for Nigerian music on an international platform; P Square and M.I were nominated and present at the BET awards held in L.A, California.

Here are the 10 tracks that appeared to be the most popular in June based on the criteria below. X.O got everyone saluting and talking after hearing his Victory track, Bracket dropped a remix for their already powerful single Yori Yori, an album leak which featured M.I off 2face’s new album dropped, Mo’Cheddah refreshed our excitement about her up coming album, Jahborne released a new single alongside Zara, YQ released a new video off his I AM YQ album, A1 sang to his college sweetheart (lovely track), Timi re-surfaced and told us where he had been, Onome Ovwori dropped a well composed patriotic song and we hyped AJUJU.

notjustOk Select – 10 is a list of ten songs/posts that have made a major impact on the listeners/readers in a given month. Several factors come into determining how big of an impact a single post made in a given month, such as page views, record breaking amount of comments and constant mp3 request for the specific song. In addition to spotlighting the select 10s, we will provide a download link so that you can save the mp3s.

Bracket ft 2face Idibia – Yori Yori (Remix)

Posted on June 10th, 2010 by Ovie O

This is one duo that needs no introduction whatsoever. Bracket’s hit single, Yori Yori, was arguably the biggest song in Nigeria for the year 2009, topping countless charts and scooping several awards, most recently a “Song of the Year” recognition at the HipHop World Awards 2010.

Now it’s 2010, and they’re back with a brand new joint… well… not exactly. This new smash-song featuring Nigeria’s biggest artiste, 2face Idibia, is a remix to the successful “Yori Yori” single but it sounds nothing like the original. In my opinion, this remix is every inch as good as the original version, and I see it making a very similar impact.

In other news, Bracket recently concluded a tour of the United States. Next stop later this month will be South America. We’re also told a new (currently untitled) album will be released sometime in October. This song goes straight into my favorite playlist.

Exclusive: Bracket ft Timaya – All My People (Remix)

Posted on April 7th, 2010 by Mola OG

Here is the remix for All My People off Bracket’s ‘Least Expected‘ album which dropped in ‘09. Bracket, who took the Nigerian music industry by storm last year also get a verse from industry heavyweight, Timaya which is not surprising since they are both currently touring the U.S together. I believe their next stop is Atlanta on April 9th.

Sweet tune! ‘Wayoyoyo… Wayoyoyo

Bistop of Bracket – Celebrate

Posted on November 27th, 2009 by Ovie O

Sometime last week, I received a startling email from one of our reliable sources at a top radio station in Nigeria. The email, originally sent in by Bistop himself, included a brand new track from Bistop, the 3rd member of Bracket who reportedly left the group in order to further his education.

However, Bistop has returned with a new single and he’s also decided to clear the air on what really happened behind the scenes. Word is that his own verse was deleted off many of their hit singles including “Yori Yori.” We will bring you guys the original full version of the “Yori Yori” track as soon as we receive it.

What do you make of this shocking development?

Online Premiere: Jay Martins Releases The Album “Elevated”

Posted on November 9th, 2009 by Ovie O

Singer/Super-producer, Jay Martins, has released his sophomore album titled “Elevated” and it’s currently doing well in the local market.

The 10-track album (not counting the instrumentals) was co-written by Bracket, P-Square and J. Martins, and all the songs were produced by J. Martins himself. The featured artistes include Bracket, Jesse Jagz, Vector, Illbliss, Waje, and an international act, Wyre (from Kenya). It also features the only released single till date… Oyoyo!

Official Release Date: November 2nd, 2009!

Personal Verdict: 8/10. Definitely shelf-worthy.

Video: Bracket ft J. Martins – Ada Owerri

Posted on November 4th, 2009 by Ovie O

Here’s the video for a previously posted item.

Goodness me! If Owerri women were really this pretty, I’d relocate to Imo State sharply sharply. Kinda reminds me of the lovely ladies in Solid Star’s One In A Million video with 2baba. Clarence surely knows where to find beautiful video models.

On another note, Bracket is here to stay!

Bracket – Ada Owerri ft. J. Martins

Posted on May 1st, 2009 by Ovie O

New love song from Enugu-based crooners, Bracket. These are the guys who made the ladies melt with their previous single “Yori Yori“, and this dispels any possibility of being classified as one-hit wonders.

All the songs on their new album have that characteristic “sweetness” you hear on most Igbo tunes, along with the involuntary body motion that accompanies it. The album also features heavyweights like P-Square, J. Martins, among others.

For those in Nigeria, you can purchase it at “Bros Chigozie’s” shop near you. (lol!). I’m currently enjoying it myself….

notjustOk Select – 10 (March ‘09)

Posted on April 5th, 2009 by Mola OG

Let me start by saying that this is not a Top 10 list of any kind and there is no underlying reason why one song is listed before the other; there is no first or last.

notjustOk Select – 10 is a list of ten songs/posts that have made a major impact on the listeners/readers in a given month. Several factors come into determining how big of an impact a single post made in a given month, such as page views, record breaking amount of comments and constant mp3 request for the specific song. In addition to spotlighting the select 10s, we will provide a download link so that you can save the mp3s.

Now, for the month of March we are going to do things a little different; we have compiled the ‘Select – 10′ from content that was posted between January and March.
