New heat from the GRIP Boiz. This time, it’s a remake of 50 Cent’s “Baby By Me.” Maybe it’s time for them to put together a series of remakes and release them as a mixtape. The likes of Endia, Yung El, J. Mila, and producer Chopsticks have done well so far.
Once again, the GRIP Boiz are made up of Endia, Yung El, J. Mila, with resident producers, Chopsticks and e-Kelly. These guys come korrect everytime. I’m diggin’ this tune.
If you’re still doubting the Northern surge spearheaded by the artistes from Jos, then you’re in for a rude awakening!
Kahli was born in Jos but he moved to the United States. A colleague watched him perform live at the Hard Rock Cafe in D.C with his Pidgin English Band over the summer, and he describes it as “electrifying!”
He moved to New York after the release of his debut album, The Grind Theory, on invitation from Hip Hop DJ/Producer DJ Doom (Jay-Z, Styles P, Jin etc) where they worked on the Beats & Rhymes EP. This project was released to good reviews and airplay, and is available on iTunes.
Today, Kahli is back in Jos… and he’s recording a brand new album with the local cats. Endia, who is one of the GRIP Boiz, isn’t new to us, so I’ll spare you further info on him.
Does the line “moved back to Jos from a spell in the United States” reMInd you of a certain rapper ??? I’m having visions! lol. Hit your boy up and let me know what you think…
*O.O*
Produced by Chopsticks (This guy is sick!)
Dutty Collar ft Ms. Ruby (Off the previous album, The Grind Theory)
This time, they’re murking the recently-released single, Somebody Wants To Die, from fellow J-Town Ambassadors, M.I & Ice Prince. The GRIP Boiz, which includes cats like Endia, Yung EL, J. Mila, e-kelly and Chopsticks, are slowly carving out a reputation for remaking certified hit singles. Will this become a viable selling tool in the industry? You tell me.
That said, who rocked the joint better? M.I/Ice Prince or The GRIP Boiz?
*O.O*
Quote of the month: Listen from 3:25 to 3:30. “You can ask Ovie. I’m Not Just Ok” – Yung EL. I concur!!!
The GRIP Boiz are back! …and not so new to us here on notjustOk.com. We previously featured Yung EL and Endia on separate remakes. This new song is a “cover” of Ikechukwu’s hit single, shobedobedoo, and it features the whole crew, J. Milla, Endia, Yung EL, and it’s produced by 2 of J-Town’s finest beatmakers, e-Kelly and Chopsticks. I’m def diggin’ this one. Is it better than the original? You tell me…
Shout out to Tola from Rhythm 93.7 FM Jos for sending this in.
The talents from that zone seem to be sprouting everyday, and now, here’s Yung EL, an artiste under the relatively new GRIP Entertainment platform (same as Endia). He gives us a pretty decent crack @ Jamie Foxx’s “Blame It” track… as a means to put the name out there before an official single drops. I’m diggin’ this version as well as their promo strategy.
Ladies and Gentlemen!!! For those who do not know him yet, I present to you Endia!
Endia is one of the very few Northern crooners with a realistic chance of making it mainstream. You’ve heard him on DJ Atte & Sazzy’s single, must be the one, and you should expect to hear more from him in the coming months.
This song is a remake of M.I’s Teaser (which, by the way, is already a classic).
