GRIP Boiz – Somebody Wants To Die (Remake)
Posted on September 17th, 2009 by Ovie OThe GRIP Boiz are back!
This time, they’re murking the recently-released single, Somebody Wants To Die, from fellow J-Town Ambassadors, M.I & Ice Prince. The GRIP Boiz, which includes cats like Endia, Yung EL, J. Mila, e-kelly and Chopsticks, are slowly carving out a reputation for remaking certified hit singles. Will this become a viable selling tool in the industry? You tell me.
That said, who rocked the joint better? M.I/Ice Prince or The GRIP Boiz?

Quote of the month: Listen from 3:25 to 3:30. “You can ask Ovie. I’m Not Just Ok” – Yung EL. I concur!!!
G.R.I.P. Boiz – Skibidibidi (Shobedobedoo Remake)
Posted on August 20th, 2009 by Ovie OSannu J-Town!
The GRIP Boiz are back! …and not so new to us here on notjustOk.com. We previously featured Yung EL and Endia on separate remakes. This new song is a “cover” of Ikechukwu’s hit single, shobedobedoo, and it features the whole crew, J. Milla, Endia, Yung EL, and it’s produced by 2 of J-Town’s finest beatmakers, e-Kelly and Chopsticks. I’m def diggin’ this one. Is it better than the original? You tell me…
Shout out to Tola from Rhythm 93.7 FM Jos for sending this in.

Ice Prince – Feeling (World Premiere)
Posted on July 21st, 2009 by Ovie OIt’s his Iceness in his fineness !!!
Brand new follow-up single from one of my favorite rappers; one guy who’s already being rated among Nigeria’s best even without an album to his name. Here, he reaches deep into his own heart to sing about the sad ethno-religious killings that happened in his hometown, Jos towards the end of last year.
It seems these middle-belters are well-rounded artistes. They make lovely music!
For those of us who are awaiting an album from him, he says: coming soon...
…and yeah! Ice Prince, among other Northern cats like DJ Atte & Sazzy, Endia and co. will also be recording #lightupNigeria theme songs which would feature on the notjustOk.com mixtape. Get with the program, folks! We only got one Nigeria.

Joint produced by e-kelly. I told y’all to remember that name. He taught M.I and Jesse Jagz how to lace beats.
Symun – Extra Special
Posted on May 17th, 2009 by Ovie OOnce in a while, you hear a song that, on first listen, you wouldn’t think it’s by a Nigerian artist. This is one of them… and his name is SYMUN; Simon Ayantola! Born in the old Bauchi State, he lived in both Oyo and Plateau States while growing up. He’s now fully stationed in Jos.
This song has all the attributes of a classic American R & B hit; the lyrics, the delivery, the production, the mixing… spot on!
Are you feeling this as much as I am?

Memorize this J-Town Producer’s name: e-kelly. He’s good.
