Here’s a new tune from 3 highly-promising acts in the Naija music industry. Zara is pretty much an established name here on notjustOk and most of the online community but is now getting lots of buzz on ground; Adol, like Zara, is also not new to us on the site while Olamide is a fresh name that’s signed to the Coded Tunes label (you saw him on Maiojoe’s I’m Grateful video).
All 3 artistes have brought their talent together, courtesy of Toni Payne Concepts, to produce this new potential hit tune titled “Naija Hail.” The song takes us back to the good ol’ days growing up in Naija and reminds us that no matter what we do, Naija is our home. Listen and share your thoughts…

June 2010 was a lovely month for Nigerian music on an international platform; P Square and M.I were nominated and present at the BET awards held in L.A, California.
Here are the 10 tracks that appeared to be the most popular in June based on the criteria below. X.O got everyone saluting and talking after hearing his Victory track, Bracket dropped a remix for their already powerful single Yori Yori, an album leak which featured M.I off 2face’s new album dropped, Mo’Cheddah refreshed our excitement about her up coming album, Jahborne released a new single alongside Zara, YQ released a new video off his I AM YQ album, A1 sang to his college sweetheart (lovely track), Timi re-surfaced and told us where he had been, Onome Ovwori dropped a well composed patriotic song and we hyped AJUJU.
notjustOk Select – 10 is a list of ten songs/posts that have made a major impact on the listeners/readers in a given month. Several factors come into determining how big of an impact a single post made in a given month, such as page views, record breaking amount of comments and constant mp3 request for the specific song. In addition to spotlighting the select 10s, we will provide a download link so that you can save the mp3s.

I like this tune; mellow but still makes you move. Everything works well on this joint; the kind of track you can easily cruise to on the highway. It’s not a smashing hit (I may be wrong), but a very good album cut. Zara who is now based in Lagos delivers her lines with confidence, but still keeps her feminine identity (her voice is something else).
If Jahborne can continue to be innovative and diversify his sound without losing his identity, I think his next album may make a mark in the industry.

“Alapomeji’s Hottest Female Act ZARA Drop a Hot new Single
Nigerian born, American bred recording artist ZARA has been creating
a huge buzz around the country ever since she arrived in Nigeria in
December 2009. With an incredibly High demand for her music, Zara has
officially dropped a new single titled “Wait for you (Aboko Ku)”, and
without a doubt this song is a sure hit.
A fresh new sound thats taking over the Afro Hip Hop market, “Wait for
you (Aboko Ku)” infuses playful lyrics, a smooth delivery, and a
sultry voice (known to Zara), with a unique Afro-Techno beat. A
surefire anthem for ladies across the country, “Wait for you (Aboko
Ku)” promotes dedication in relationships, letting women and men know
that there is nothing wrong with being completely in love with your
partner. The song tells the love story of a woman who is ready and
willing to wait for her man irrespective of any circumstances. In the
chorus of the song, Zara tells her love interest, ” time dey pass and
e no dey wait for person, but I go wait for you, now me and you, we
are meant to be, I will wait for you, No one can love you like I do,
Aboko Ku. no one can treat you like I do, Aboko Ku”.
Wait for you (Aboko Ku) was produced by Spankie, whose use of Afro
Techno beats is fast making him the go to producer for hit songs. The
song was recorded, mixed and mastered at Knighthouse @ Studio51. Zara
is currently being managed under Toni Payne Concepts. and her previous
single “Mommi Mi” has been making waves on top radio stations across
the country and without a doubt “Wait for you (Aboko Ku)” is rated
NEXT. ”
Solid Joint! Zara definitely switches up her style on this track and really delivers… Nigeria has definitely had a positive impact on her music and she is no longer smiling.
Please share your thoughts.

“Good day Ms Uduak,
I know you must have heard and read these lines a lot but the truth must surely be spoken.
You are great, a rare gem. Your articles kill me and resurrect me. But you know what about you that marvels me, awes me and leaves me in a state of tearful hypnosism? Your spirit.
You answer questions and kind of guide people into their dreams, people you don’t really know. I think you have been an answer to so many. . .
I have a situation. I’m an upcoming artiste, I’ve written really great songs but I don’t know the next step to take. I could send my demo to labels but then there is the issue of labels not signing new acts as a result of piracy and the internet.
But do you really think that’s true here in Nigeria? Or do you think that with real tight songs which a lot of people has attested to its ability to sell, I could get signed?
Again if I decide to stay unsigned, how do I get my music out there in the market?
I know you might be a very busy lady but you could answer me, and that will be added to the list of the dreams you’ve helped mould. Thanks Ms Ladybrille.”

Brand New Joint from Alapomeji records first Lady. There is something about Zara’s voice; it just draws you in.
This track is nice all around; beat, lyrics, delivery and hook.

Mark 1:42 Zara says, ‘I’m notJustOk‘… I concur!

I noticed that on the last notjustOk Select post someone felt some kind of way about the songs selected. So I will make this bold, notjustOk select is not a Top 10 list of any kind and there is no underlying reason why one song is listed before the other; there is no first or last.

June was the month of the female rappers; Sasha came with her new single ‘Gidi Babe’, Kel blessed us with a new joint off her upcoming album followed by its video and Zara dropped the ‘Su Mo Bi’ track. Enjoy!

Brand New Single from Zara; HEAVY and guaranteed banger. This one tops the Flyest in my opinion, although it held the spot for most popular post on www.notjustok.com for almost four months straight.
With this track, I feel like Zara is making a statement that she is “Focused Men”. Her next move should be to enter Gidi and plan a take-over.
Listen and let me know what you think.
***UPDATE***
A big CONGRATULATIONS to Zara who is now signed with 9ice’s ALAPOMEJI ENTERTAINMENT. See Toni’s note confirming it.

Finally, it’s here. The song is solid, if you ask me and I must say that every single one of these ladies brought the heat. I feel like they all held it down.
What are your thoughts?
