Bracket – Ada Owerri ft. J. Martins

Posted on May 1st, 2009 by Ovie O

New love song from Enugu-based crooners, Bracket. These are the guys who made the ladies melt with their previous single “Yori Yori“, and this dispels any possibility of being classified as one-hit wonders.

All the songs on their new album have that characteristic “sweetness” you hear on most Igbo tunes, along with the involuntary body motion that accompanies it. The album also features heavyweights like P-Square, J. Martins, among others.

For those in Nigeria, you can purchase it at “Bros Chigozie’s” shop near you. (lol!). I’m currently enjoying it myself….

[...] this is the side of Chykay you probably never knew he had. A few months ago, I dared Chykay right here on notjustOk to make a highlife track after he openly professed his love for Bracket’s Ada Owerri track. He decided to take me up [...]

The hook is nice. Much love to all the Ada’s from Owerri. Wow. much love. Ada Owerri le!

The song may grow on me, but it feels very disconnected, almost like the formula didn’t work this time. But it nice to have a song about the millions of Ada’s, esp the Ada’s from Owerri.

I won’t cop the album myself personally, not my sort of thing, but this track further enhances their brand. They are targeting a specific audience and i think its always good to have a game plan. I just wish i could see Naija artists experimenting a bit more and thinking outside the box. Like Gnarls Bharkeley, if you get it right, it can yield huge results

I love instrumentations with an eastern feel. I found myself not even “sending” the lyrics of the song.
Even if it’s for the heck of having something different, I would def cop their album.
