Nneka – Suffri + Focus x U.S.A Tour Dates

Posted on February 3rd, 2010 by Mola OG

First things first, 2009 MOBO award winner, Nneka will be performing LIVE tonight (Feb 2nd 2010) on the David Letterman show. So if you are in the States, make sure you tune in to CBS at 11:35pm EST. In addition, she is currently touring the major cities in America, see the tour dates below to verify if she is coming to a city near you.

Nneka’s first USA released album hit stores on Feb 2 and you can get the entire album on Amazon right now. Her album is all SOLID music; I am impressed by the way she transitions from tempo to tempo on ‘Suffri‘ and the sound of all the instrumentals involved. On ‘Focus‘ she goes and spits a few barz and transitions (I had to repeat that word) smoothly into singing. The lyrics on ‘Focus‘ touch on different distractions and stresses that you should keep your focus.

ladies and gents, listen and your souls shall be lifted into places were truth prevails, Nneka say she be fully Naija, she is not lost, she has been in and out of naija, has family in naija, oh people she didn’t get lost abroad, she is totally Nigerian, dont send your own blood out of their land, because even the lost one’s are coming home. Naija soon would dominate the world and she is one of the signs. Omonblanks

@Chucks, most Nigerians dont need to know about her, she is repping Naija to the fullest, when our Great Fella started not all Naijans knew of him nor acknowleded him, they kept talking about the fact that he smoked weed

but una dey kill me with your “its not Nigerian music” ignorance……when fela started his own version of funk/jazz/african rhythms was it “Naija music” then??? the guitar, drums, trumpet when our artists they use now was it handed down by our forefathers? Why the Ignorance my Naija brothers: MUSIC IS A FUCKING UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE…….just cos she choose not to do the DUM KPA DUM KPA, then she is not doing NIGERIAN MUSIC, DUM KPA DUM KPA was not a hit when I be small pekin, ALL FORMS OF NIGERIAN MUSIC YOU HEAR TODAY HAS BORROWED ELEMENTS FROM BEYOND OUR BOARDERS!…..I don tire to hear ignorance being spread on the internet, its better some typers mask it and stop placing it on a shelf for all to see (NO DISRESPECT)

Let me pin point the following names and please tell me if they were doing “NAIJA” music or their respective “AFRICAN COUNTRY’S” music

1. LUCKY DUBE
2. MAKEK FASHEK
3. RASKIMONO
4. CHAKA CHAKA

these are all legends that incorporated “African-ness” with sounds from respective sources of inspiration.

Please people DUM KPA DUM KPA does not equal NAIJA MUSIC….PLEASE, I TAKE GOD BEG YOU

Nneka was rapping
Listen to it above^^^^^^^^ i take it u probably havnt heard her other songs? chek em out ur gonna like it.

she rapped in focus and she said “Fuck” loud and clear in the 1st verse…

so…apparently its you that got it twisted mate…lol
any way’s notin do you

but i wonder why its okay for the mo hits crew and other naija artists to use swear words but when a female artist based abroad does the same people raise eyebrows?

u see the problem with Nigerians is that we like settling for less , i mean why r we saying nneka is not ” naija-styled” are we saying that her rhythm isn’t naija styled , or her sound is too refined, or maybe the thing she talk nuthin about wats happpenen in naija ….i mean if u listen to her album . from her cover of the naija old hit ‘ sweet mother ” to the chart topping “heart beat ” , and “suffri” all were naija themed, she is truely talanted and intelligent , not mention cultural, we should admire if not embrace her music

listened to the song…honestly i have nothing to say. the fact is that most nigerians do not relate to this kind of music. forget the fact that she spoke pidgin, this song was not targeted for the nigerian audience, and in my opinion there is very little that is nigerian about the song.

chuks ….. it’s about sense and product packaging her style is different its new and has high appeal….well i happen to like all types of music including Rock, metal etc…i guess she took some inspirations from rock and made her own style…and no one can take it from her…
GUy music is changing abi is it until she dances galala that u’ll say shes a nigrerian..

Abeg free the girl…its her moment let her shine jor

i dont know why some nigerians have unconscious bad belle syndrome for others success?….shooo
they must always find one thing to say!

lol! i was just expressing my opinion, i’m not bad belle – ing anybody. I read a lot of comments wit ppl sayin she’s a grammy winner in the making, and i couldn’t help but wonder why? whats so special about her song. i just think she is lucky to have agood label promotin her album in the U.S. If the likes of 2-face had dat, i’m sure his cupboard would have been ful of grammys. As for the person that mention Asa, i’m a huge fan and i happen to think of her as very nigeriam, u can go to A.J City today and talk about her and people would know what you are saying. but, i tell you, go and ask most nigerians abt nneka and they will be like: huh?

no wahala

u have a point with the ajegunle thing though…. but hey even if she builds her fan base abroad the word will eventually spread and every bus conductor will be drinking shepe and bopping to the tune of heartbeat…lol.
