Don Jazzy #Enigma Beat Competition: Top 10 Finalists Revealed! Voting Starts NOW!

After reviewing over 1,800 entries for the #Enigma Beat Competition in the space of one week, notjustOk.com and Don Jazzy are pleased to bring you the Top 10 Finalists!!!
The notjustOk panel, headed by DON JAZZY himself, took time out to listen to EVERY SINGLE ENTRY sent in within the time frame. As expected, the list is dominated by rappers spitting bars like it’s no man’s business. Let’s get right into it!
The prizes remain the same. 1st place gets $2,000, 2nd place gets $1,000 and 3rd place gets $500. At the end of the competition, an official #Enigma mixtape featuring the Top 50 entries will be released here on notjustOk.com by one of Nigeria’s foremost DJs, DJ Neptune. This gives more up & coming acts a chance to get good exposure both online and offline.

Back then music was meant to be a tool/medium to change a country and this was evident through the work of Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Right now music is becoming a means to magnify the wrongs of our society and this is obvious through the revealed top 10 finalists. Alot is at stake here, i really don't know what the selection credentials are but i believe more than half of you reading this post would agree that probably 2 0r 3 deserve to make this list. Its obvious Nigerians would still never be fair in what ever we do with tribalism, injustice & mediocrity being at large even in our music industry. This list is comprised of WACK & WEAK entries and must certainly be a joke. We deserve better than this.

i am certain this enigma selection thing would win donjazzy/njok more haters than fans…so many ego has been bruised here and it will take lots to bring them back. as if i knew this was going to happen, i had opined sometime ago that it would be a herculien task to sieve out just 10 entries from a whooping 1800 entries without causing more pain and some ppl feeling justifiably cheated. and the moment a price money was attached to it, it became fiercer and brought in undue pressure on the competion of faceless rappers… things are not done like that. to restore the confidence of donjazzy/njok fans i think the modus of selection should be explained and why some of these entries made it at the expense of others which were arguably better. i dont wan t to subscribe to the sentiments of favouritism which is being echoes here but i think the initiators of this noble effort need to do more explaining than giving out price money.

Don Jazzy gave you guys a beat and ur all freestyling. The people who sat down & made concept records now are being attacked for not being the best. U know if the so called "people's choice" were up there, Nigerians will still complain. #FACT !!! So now, how do we please you, when someone will ALWAYS feels left out ? Be frank, on one hand you cannot entries that complete cohesive songs better than those chosen. Polls are always skewed, however, this list is acceptable.

Y'all critising should chill out. I have no clue how it all went behind doors but to work with the information available: one week notice and 1800 entries? Thats crazy! One shouldnt expect less from a nation blessed with talents. At this point, we've heard 10 selected worst entries and 10 selected best entries. You and I know that the adjudged best entries edge the worst ones by miles.
More so, it is usually the case that very good entries dont make it and selected ones do live up to the 'hype'. My favs though are Mode 9, Opzy, Pryse and Micheal A1. Opzy and Pryse made it (WELLDONE). I'll go for Opzy.
I know say I don talk too much but mah people on here sabi boil up temper for deeper insights on social-cultural issues and events in the Nigerian entertainment industry. Its funny that most times I end up laughing hard reading comment exchanges in various dimensions and degrees. So, go ahead and call this what you like. But if you're on my level, you'll see things similarly.

Pryse is the truth on this beat. Clear, precise and straight to the point. Her flow was the work of a true MC. After her I thought Jacinthe was pretty expressive and original while Opzy brought something different to the table; like the speed of DaGrin’s freestyles crossed with the sound of Olamide. One entry on this list for me is a finalist simply because of the commercial appeal of his sound as the music business is a business.

Lyrics don't have to be watery before we can take it in… His lines are 'thick', yet easy to relate to. That's where originality comes into play. As a rapper, i don't respect u much if ur punchline is just one of those that peeps conjure and play around with on twitter. Well, i had to look it up again… right here the competition rules don't say hiphop but don jazzy said it was a hiphop competition when he tweeted bout it… And if it's a hiphop competition then mallam t bass shouldn't even be on this list at all!!! it’s a freestyle contest not a music ompetition. the rap should be spontaneous- delivery and punchlines are the look out for judges because the beat has been produced by the capable don jazzy. we need people with good ear for music/rap to actually judge/vote in competitions like this. you dont select a winner in a freestyle contest because he touched up ‘the beat’. all the supposed ‘freestyle” were good, but if you wanna get my take, i will say no one did it as good as Pryse. she killed it. she was free with it. she had the ease and the words kept coming.she is a natural and a huge prospect for the future.I had goose bumps listening to her, she almost blew my sockets. nice one Pryse! you made my day .
