Here’s a debut single from a very new face in the game, Orion. His first ever attempt at singing was done under the tutelage of Igbo Rapper/Producer Big Lo of the Delicious fame who is also his mentor.
The Imo State-born crooner had his first shot at the industry when he, along with some other young budding talents, featured in the prestigious Star Quest Talent Competition.
Presently seeking admission in one of the institutions of higher learning in Kaduna where he resides, Orion is also planning to have a serious crack @ the music biz. Listen to “Extra Boyfriend” and kindly share your thoughts on this dude.
Rumor has it that Nico Gravity was beaten mercilessly and some even go as far as saying that he was beaten to death. I can not confirm that this information is true or false, but since Nico has released a full length album and I don’t know that Nigerian artistes release post mortem albums, it is safe to assume that he is alive. The album includes many fiya songs including ‘Finish Timaya Season 2‘ which you can listen to below.
I pray that Nico is well as safe wherever he is though.
Now onto the songs; Ogaranya Ngadanga starts with the Intro off the album which will crack you up at some point. The actual song has a nice rhythm and a sound that makes you want to dance Galala even if you don’t understand what ‘Ogaranya Ngadanga‘ means.
On Season 2 of Finish Timaya Nico admits that he is the King of Controversial and that every time he ‘waka na yappies’ full im brain. He really goes in on Timaya on this track compared to what he did on the first ‘I wan finish Timaya’ track.
I got the opportunity to pick and present a song on the ‘Scene but no Heard‘ section of the ‘Destination Africa‘ show with Dj Edu on BBC radio. The show aired on March 15 2010 and you can listen to the 2 hour show here.
The song I picked was ‘Dreamer‘ by SDC and I give my reason in the audio below. Shout out to Dj Edu, Darren and the ‘Destination Africa’ crew for the opportunity. I have added the audio of just the part where I introduce the song and the song. However, if you insist that you want to hear it on BBC, you can click here and fast forward to time mark 1:28:03
Thanks everyone for the continuous support and presence on notjustOk.com. We appreciate you Big Time!
This one is for my Igbo brethren out there; these tunes sweet to my ear like mad. Wizboyy released his ‘New Face of My Story‘ album back in 2009, but these songs, which are songs off the album, just made their way to the inbox recently.
Owu Sa Gi which means ‘You don’t have Money’ is a dance track while Omalicha has that slow tempo feel to it.
Rukus is back with more joints off his up coming ‘The Hunger‘ mix-tape, set to drop in 2010. Fashi Mi is really a track by SoulBrotha which will make Rukus’ mixtape. The song was done over Timberland/Drake’s ‘Say Something‘ instrumental; brand new hook and verses. Good effort!
On ‘Dream Deffered Rukus goes in and paints us what comes across as his journey thus far; deep stuff.
So, Vector has decided not to joke with his music in 2010.
Here’s Vector’s official 2nd single, after the release of “Kilode” off his soon-to-be-released debut album titled “State of Surprise.” On this joint, Vector takes us to “Jamaica” with “Mary Jane” as the theme of the song (…go figure), and the production/beats also falls along the same line.
I’m sure we all agree that Vector DOES NOT sound like Jay-Z on this joint. IMO, he’s quickly carving out his own “vocal identity”. Whether you agree with me or not, one thing’s for sure: his lyrics are his! V.E.C. might just become a real force in Naija’s HipHop market sooner than later. Listen and share your thoughts…
*O.O*
See, my eye dey tint! My brain don off and I dey think of how to think!
Brand new party-cranker from Sheyman, the self-acclaimed “King Of Melody.” I personally think he’s one of the most underrated producers in Nigeria. His beats always get you moving non-stop.
The Goretti Company has entered a partnership with Clarence Peters’ Capital to release a series of mixtapes from illbliss, suspect and other artists.
This is the second single off the currently-untitled Capital Mix Cd. The song is called “I DEY FEEL YOU”. STR8BUTTAH FT WAJE. PRODUCED BY SUSPECT. Str8 Buttah is a Lagos-based collective of MCs – Teckzilla, XYZ, R-Cube, Deck the Nexus, Enigma and Rae – an amalgamation of crews and solo artistes that frequently interacted in the Lagos underground scene in the early 00’s, united by mutual respect, time-tested friendships and their undying love for hip-hop. Waje (DO ME) is currently working on some brand new tracks and getting set to drop her album.
Here is a brand new, hot single from super producer, Mekoyo who has laced some pretty good tracks for artistes like Syle Plus (Olufunmi), Justina, Tony One Week and Kefee.
I have a feeling that this song will connect and may become BIG if promoted properly. Expect a Mekoyo album to drop in 2010 on his Oyoyo imprint. Your thoughts are always welcome.
