I know some people who will be prescribed a daily Prozac pill for 2 weeks straight, after the game tonight. Seriously, this behavior cracks me up, because I can not relate to it. The closest I ever got to getting a low emotion for soccer or any sports, was when Naija lost to Italy in '94 and that feeling only lasted for 30 minutes.
As most of you know, Manchester United won the premier league cup this year and clinched a 10th time title win. Now, Chelsea was close, but they slacked off and allowed the Bolton Wanderers draw with them in their final match and this caused them the title. As I write up this blog post, all the people I described in the first sentence of this post are somewhere watching the Manchester vs Chelsea European cup game, stressing themselves emotionally to see who will win. I'm sure someone is screaming at the TV hoping that the player on the field in Moscow can hear them saying "Pass the ball Ode!"
The best advice is to refuse putting any emotion on whatever team you may be rooting for, don't attach yourself to the outcome of a game. These players are making Millions, you are there draining your emotions and screaming because Michael Essien did not stop Ronaldo before he scored the first goal. Stop it! you have more important things to think about, life is already stressful as it is.
If you decide to ignore my first advice, you can choose a winning team to root for during any type of sports season. I'm telling you, this is the next best thing you can do for your emotional health. Now if you happen to chose a team like Bolton Wanderers or Houston Rockets (yes I said it), you are in trouble for the rest of the season you may end messing up your weeks when your team goes on a losing spree. Oh one more thing, all you Arsenal fans better switch teams next season, so that you don't get too depressed. It's getting too hard to be an Arsenal fan.
***I just heard that Drogba got a red card for sounding someone with a dirty slap.*** LOL!!!
First of all why would you name a football(soccer) team ‘LA GALAXY’… Galaxy! how did they decide to go with "Galaxy" … but I digress
I watched the opening MLS match yesterday and I noticed a few things:
There were a bunch of celebrities at the arena watching ’soccer’. Eva Longoria, Kevin Garnet and Gov. Arnold were all out there. I wonder if they enjoyed the game.
The "Beckham Cam" which kept track of Beckham’s activity through out the game. The camera kept zooming in to David Beckham every 3.25 minutes. I predict this is how it will be in every match he plays in… it looks like Beckham was trying hard not to laugh when Chelsea scored…
This marketing tactic is working so far. I’m almost certain that the MLS will get more ratings… I was wrong in my last post… It will be even better if Okocha comes over… It was a descent game overall, ofcourse Chelsea won and they were playing like they were practicing….
I think the $250M might be worth it… it is worth Beckham’s time…
Arsenal is finished. With Henry’s move to Barcelona…I’m sure all you "Gunner for Life" fans are having second thoughts now?
Beckham is on some BS, playing in the MLS. He is not necessarily doing it for the love of Football(soccer), he is doing it for the love of chilling and living in the USA… I wonder, will his presence in the MLS make you watch MLS games?
Adu is leaving his MLS club, Real Salt Lake to Europe. Real Salt Lake is eyeing Okocha… I may just start watcing MLS games if Okocha comes over.
