It’s that time again when we bring together the TEN (10) most exciting songs/posts from the previous month; in this case, July 2010. July brought us several Marathon collaborations with the Cool2Vote Allstars song “I Go Vote” (by about 20 Nigerian artistes) being one of the major releases. Dignitaries like Nuhu Ribadu, the very first Executive Chairman of EFCC, visited notjustOk.com on several occasions and posted the link on Social Networks like Facebook and Twitter.
With songs ranging from rap/hiphop to Funky House, all the way to modern Igbo highlife, and everything else in between, we’re sure you guys will be thrilled by this list. The Best Part: All the songs are TAG-FREE!!! Enjoy!
notjustOk Select – 10 is a list of ten songs/posts that have made a major impact on the listeners/readers in a given month. Several factors come into determining how big of an impact a single post made in a given month, such as page views, record breaking amount of comments and constant mp3 request for the specific song. In addition to spotlighting the select 10s, we will provide a DOWNLOAD link so that you can save the mp3s.

NAIJA STAND UP!!!!
Veteran music and movie soundtrack producer LayLow is here with the first single off his highly anticipated forth coming compilation album project which will involve over 50 top Nigerian artistes both locally and internationally. “Meet Me At The Top” features – in order of appearance – Iceberg Slim, CartiAir, Mode 9, Terry Tha Rapman, Skales, Vector, Dagrin (R.I.P) , Ludu & Gino.
In 2009, Tha Suspect’s “I No Send You” Mega-Remix was seen by many as the biggest hiphop collaboration of the year. This new effort from Laylow and the aforementioned rappers can be seen as the 2010 successor. It plays host to 9 of the finest Mcee’s in the land currently holding their own. The beat is dope, the verses are dope, the hook is dope!
Verdict: Grade A!

Check out two fresh singles from Iceberg Slim’s right-hand man, Rico White. They worked together for several years under the “Afrigang Entertainment” platform before Iceberg Slim moved back to Gidi last December. Now, Rico himself has also moved to Lagos in pursuit of that Gidi-paper.
I’m definitely liking the “new Rico” on both tracks. His flows are a bit more straightforward now, showing that he’s every inch as good as Slim himself. And then comes Sean T! Listen and share your thoughts….

It’s a new day, it’s a new week, and it’s the last day of the month of May. That brings us to another edition of the notjustOk Select-10 where we give you guys a chance to download TEN (10) of your favorite songs from the prior month (in this case, April) all for FREE!!!
April was quite an eventful month; possibly the most active month of 2010 thus far, for both good and bad reasons. First, we had “Kelly Hansome Vs The NoiseMakers“; then came “Cobhams Vs Yahoo-Yahoo“. However, the fun part of April was totally eclipsed with the passing away of one of the major exponents of the Nigerian music industry: DaGrin! (R.I.P.) and the release of his “If I Die” single (recorded in February 2010) which made many believe he foresaw his own death. It’s a lil over a month now, and we miss him so dearly. Well, let’s get right into it.
notjustOk select is not a Top 10 list of any kind and there is no underlying reason why one song is listed before the other; there is no first or last.

As previously announced, one of Nigeria’s most talked about rappers in 2009, Iceberg Slim, has been in the United States for the last few weeks. Tonight, he’s heading back to Nigeria to continue chasing the new-found Gidi paper, thanks to money machine, Yes Records.
As a parting gift, he’s chosen to spit several hot barz for our listening pleasure. Hate him or love him, dude will be on your radio more often than you can imagine. Enjoy!

Alright so March 2010 as we know it is OVER!
Fortunately, we have come again with 10 tracks from February along with a Download which will be available for 3 days only. As mentioned below, the tracks are the songs we noticed had a high impact on notjustOk in February.
Please note that the Download link will be available for only 3 more days. Enjoy the month of April and be gentle with any April fools day stunt you pull so that it does not cause any permanent situation. Expect more SOLID Nigerian Music in April; I have a feeling that there will be an overwhelming HIT released in April…

Public Service Announcement:
Rapper Iceberg Slim is NOW officially signed to the money-spinning Yes Records! and he was given a BMW X5 for good measure.
“Slim” is currently in yankee for the next few weeks but he’ll be heading back to Nigeria soon to continue working on his album. He’s held down a host of shows back home, and promises to drop banging singles in the coming weeks/months. This joint right here is him having fun in the studio while rapping over Drake’s “Over” track.
Now that Iceberg Slim is sitting on a “money machine”, do you see him making a lasting impact? Rapheads, listen and hit your boy up with yo comments.
