Ladies and gentlemen, it’s with great pleasure we bring you guys the official Cool2Vote anthem by several stars in the Nigerian music industry titled “I Go Vote”.
“It began like it was a joke. Some said it was a dream too lofty to achieve with Nigerian artistes. Twenty (20) artistes on one track? Who was going to produce it? How was it going to happen? But as all record-breaking feats have shown, the impossible is nothing. So it happened that between Tuesday 13th July and Monday 19th July, 2010, a period of about one week, twenty (20) Nigerian artistes converged on the Ilupeju Lagos recording studio of Delta-born music producer Magege Theophilus (Ex-O) to lend their voices to the Cool2Vote Nigeria campaign with the recording of “I Go Vote” a song with a strong undiluted message encouraging Nigerians to participate actively in the forthcoming elections and even future elections by registering to vote and showing up at the polls to cast their ballots.
Described as Nigeria’s biggest new age collaboration, the song parades some of Nigeria’s finest music talents now fondly dubbed The Cool2Vote All Stars. They include acts like Lami Philips, Sound Sultan, Waje, Wizkid, Skales, Kel, General Pype, Denzel, Wordsmith, Timi Dakolo, Skuki, Mo Cheddah, Mtrill, Emmsong, Iyanya, YQ, Efa, Oh! and Ex-O.
Speaking about the song, National Coordinator of the Cool2Vote Nigeria Campaign, Fi’ammari Machar Zoaka was very enthusiastic that the song will deliver its intended message across board. “Whether old or young, we believe this is one song that will surely resonate with all classes of the Nigerian people and get every Nigerian of voting age to register to vote and vote. The commitment which all artistes on this song displayed during the recording is remarkable. Nigeria will forever be grateful to them for this patriotic expression of belief and hope in the possibility of a new Nigeria, he said.” As the song leaks on NotJustOK.com, it will be officially premiered at the ROCKDAVOTE MEGA JAM scheduled to hold in Ibadan on Monday 26 July, 2010 at the Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.”
*O.O*

“Cool2Vote Nigeria is a not-for-profit, non-partisan coalition of Nigerian celebrities, young professionals and political leaders aimed at mobilising young Nigerians of voting age to REGISTER to vote, VOTE at the polls, and PROTECT their votes at the 2011 elections and beyond. The campaign is NOT endorsing any candidate or political party.
Born in the throes of electoral decadence, Cool2Vote Nigeria has set out to use the power of pop-culture, new social media and technology to capture the hearts and minds of young people towards political consciousness. It is inspired by the belief that young people have power like never before to shape the direction of their nations by their participation in the electoral process as exemplified by the 2008 presidential campaign of Barack Obama.”
It’s always a good thing to see positivity in music. Shout-out to all the stars involved in this massive project.
“Nigeria no go jagajaga if we join our hands to make am better!”

Anyone who is anyone in the Nigerian music industry knows and respects Jamix! He is one of the craziest producers in Lagos but not as visible as the common names. His productions include Styl-Plus’s “Always on my mind,” ModeNine’s “Nigerian Girls,” Faze’s “Kolomental”, most of OverDose’s songs, and several others.
In 2009, he stepped out with one of the heaviest collaborations of the year featuring M.I, Terry G and 9ice” on the hit single “Omo Naija.” Now he has released his debut album as a Producer titled “The Lecture.” It’s a very juicy compilation with features from the likes of Kel, Ice Prince, Wizkid (on “My Party”, which you can hear below), among other known names. You definitely need to own a copy as a music lover. For those in Nigeria, look out for it on the streets. For the rest of us abroad, NJO is currently working on getting it on the notjustOk Shop for your consumption. We’ll update you guys on that. Stay with us… as always!

JJC is not joking around with this “We Are Africans” campaign (Branding) and I have to say that I respect his effort for not half stepping once, but going all out on the visuals for all the song versions.
Look, this has to be the best video that has come out of Nigeria this year, so far. Crisp video and SOLID remix with credible artistes.
There is no need to shoot a video outside of Nigeria any longer, just holler at Big Boyz Entertainment and they will hook you up for the right price.

Danny Young in the building!… Orita Fogo!
Danny Young, a local crooner, recently released his album, Crossover, which is currently doing very well in the Lagos market. He’s been on his grind for a long time now, and his hardwork is finally yielding fruits with shows after shows, and a solid album to go with it.
The first song is “My Girl” featuring veteran artiste, Paul Play Dairo alongside hotshot rapper, Kel. The 2nd song features AY.Com, who’s still enjoying benefits of having one of the biggest tracks of 2009 by appearing in loads of features. Other artistes on the album include Olu Maintain, Klever Jay, K-Solo and LKT. The album also features the popular single Oju Ti Won.
It’s a very good album, I promise! Go cop it!

If you thought you had heard enough of the “We Are Africans” hit tune, well, there’s more!
This time it’s the All-Star Naija Remix featuring Femi Kuti, AY.Com, Da Grin, DJ Zeez, Kel and eLDee (alot, shey?) …and the song stays crunk, as expected!
Big ups to JJC aka Mr. Skillz for giving us another mouthwatering collabo. I expect big things from him this year.

Brand new joint from Beazy; this guy is another rapper to watch out for in 2010 which I believe will be a big year for hip hop in Nigeria.
I love the way Kel flowed on this one. Enjoy! O and Beazy killed the freestyle hands down…

Kel’s album is out and available on every street corner and Big Treat outlet in Nigeria. You can see the track listing after listening to the song; it looks like a complete album to me; I see they kept most of the production in-house with Tha Suspect.
Here is a track from the album ft IboBoy iLLBliss; straight up hard rap track.

This album cover is serious; you get the actual feeling that Kel has come to collect her invested money… ‘The Investment’ will be released soon.
Kel looks extra focused! I love it!

I noticed that on the last notjustOk Select post someone felt some kind of way about the songs selected. So I will make this bold, notjustOk select is not a Top 10 list of any kind and there is no underlying reason why one song is listed before the other; there is no first or last.
notjustOk Select – 10 is a list of ten songs/posts that have made a major impact on the listeners/readers in a given month. Several factors come into determining how big of an impact a single post made in a given month, such as page views, record breaking amount of comments and constant mp3 request for the specific song. In addition to spotlighting the select 10s, we will provide a download link so that you can save the mp3s.
June was the month of the female rappers; Sasha came with her new single ‘Gidi Babe’, Kel blessed us with a new joint off her upcoming album followed by its video and Zara dropped the ‘Su Mo Bi’ track. Enjoy!
