It’s that time again when we bring together the TEN (10) most exciting songs/posts from the previous month; in this case, July 2010. July brought us several Marathon collaborations with the Cool2Vote Allstars song “I Go Vote” (by about 20 Nigerian artistes) being one of the major releases. Dignitaries like Nuhu Ribadu, the very first Executive Chairman of EFCC, visited notjustOk.com on several occasions and posted the link on Social Networks like Facebook and Twitter.
With songs ranging from rap/hiphop to Funky House, all the way to modern Igbo highlife, and everything else in between, we’re sure you guys will be thrilled by this list. The Best Part: All the songs are TAG-FREE!!! Enjoy!
notjustOk Select – 10 is a list of ten songs/posts that have made a major impact on the listeners/readers in a given month. Several factors come into determining how big of an impact a single post made in a given month, such as page views, record breaking amount of comments and constant mp3 request for the specific song. In addition to spotlighting the select 10s, we will provide a DOWNLOAD link so that you can save the mp3s.
Here is one of the most anticipated rap albums out of Nigeria, “African American” by Sauce Kid, presented to you online at the same time it is presented on ground in Nigeria. Buy your digital copy and tell a friend to get theirs too.
Listen to the album and share your thoughts! Enjoy! (It was worth the wait)
#SinzuWeek still very much in effect on notjustOk.com! …culminating in the July 30th release of the long-anticipated “African American” album.
The “African American” album finally drops in a matter of hours right here on the site, as well as the streets! Sauce has decided to bless us with a new freestyle to Drake’s “Light Up” which will appear on the “Da Rip Off” mixtape billed to drop real soon (dude is seriously on his grind… don’t even try to hate). Enjoy!
African American will finally drop everywhere including notjustOk.com on Friday, July 30 under Storm 360.
notjustOk had a chance to catch up with SauceKid to ask him a few questions including why it has taken so long (since 2008) to deliver the African American album, how and why he hooked up with Storm, what to expect from the album and more.
I had a chance to listen to the album and I will tell you that it is a very well rounded album, but you can be the judge after you buy the album on the 30th of July.
It goes without saying that Sauce Kid is Nigeria’s BEST rapper without an album to his name, and one of the very best when compared to the other big names in our industry. With the release of a mixtape and a few singles in the last couple of years, he’s graced the covers of magazines, stormed the charts, and lit up club scenes from Lagos all the way to Abuja down to Benin. Now, the long-awaited debut album titled “African American” will FINALLY be released under Storm Records on the 30th of July, 2010!
The song, “Sinzu is Sinzu”, which was meant for a birthday release, “accidentally” leaked on a few sites over the weekend. However, this Funky House version online will NOT appear on the final cut (the beat is different).
I’ve had the privilege of listening to the album in its entirety, and I’ll tell you guys one thing: it’s TOTALLY worth the wait! Whether you’re a raphead, a party animal or just the “listening” type, you’ll find something in there that will appeal to you. Mark your calendar, guys! July 30th will be here in no time!

As a reminder, the release of the African American album will be quickly followed by a mixtape drop titled “Da RipOff”. That’s not the end; a 3 volume mixtape is also in the works. Its title will be announced at a later date. Stay with us.

At the start of June, Sinzu took the stage as one of two lead acts (alongside DJ Zeez) at the Nigerian DJs Summer Jam held in Houston, Texas. I got a chance to watch him perform at the event, and he also gave me an opportunity to privately critique the mixed and mastered “African American” album from start to finish.
Hype aside, the album is as good as it gets on all standards. There’s alot of yankee, a bit of UK/Grime, and definitely a whole lot of Naija in the bunch. I’m not exactly sure when Storm Records will decide to finally release it, but be rest-assured that it is worth the wait. In any case, we’ll keep you guys posted.
The performance below is from one of Sinzu’s appearances at a recent Glo event/show in Lagos. I particularly love the way he moved the crowd from start to finish. “UnderG” is in full effect!

“Something You Forgot” is a video for one of his previously posted mixtape joints. Here, you can see clips from the Naija DJs Summer Jam performance.
PS: I can now concretely tell you the meaning of Sinzu. Are you ready? Okay wait for it… Sinzu is Sinzu!
I mentioned yesterday that OluwaSauceKid baba will be at the Naija DJs summer Jam. Watch Sinzu himself confirm to you in the video below that he will be in ‘H‘ town for the Naija DJs Summer Jam this weekend…
Over the last couple of weeks, Sinzu dropped a few freestyles but for one reason or the other, we didn’t post them. You can listen to the last 3 joints off his “Follow Friday” special in anticipation of the release of the “African American” album and “Da RipOff” mixtape.

Remember that you guys voted and chose the top 10 videos, so you have power over what videos make it on the top 10 list. Make sure you vote when the poll for the 2nd quarter’s show gets posted.
New Music Friday from Sinzu off his Da RipOff Mixtape. Dude gets better with each track, in my opinion. He definitely ripped this beat off without “protection.” lol.
For the records, “Da RipOff” drops right after the African American album (please, don’t ask me when cos I’m as clueless as the next man).
E Don Dey Madt, abi?
