Here is one of the most anticipated rap albums out of Nigeria, “African American” by Sauce Kid, presented to you online at the same time it is presented on ground in Nigeria. Buy your digital copy and tell a friend to get theirs too.
Listen to the album and share your thoughts! Enjoy! (It was worth the wait)
#SinzuWeek still very much in effect on notjustOk.com! …culminating in the July 30th release of the long-anticipated “African American” album.
The “African American” album finally drops in a matter of hours right here on the site, as well as the streets! Sauce has decided to bless us with a new freestyle to Drake’s “Light Up” which will appear on the “Da Rip Off” mixtape billed to drop real soon (dude is seriously on his grind… don’t even try to hate). Enjoy!
It goes without saying that Sauce Kid is Nigeria’s BEST rapper without an album to his name, and one of the very best when compared to the other big names in our industry. With the release of a mixtape and a few singles in the last couple of years, he’s graced the covers of magazines, stormed the charts, and lit up club scenes from Lagos all the way to Abuja down to Benin. Now, the long-awaited debut album titled “African American” will FINALLY be released under Storm Records on the 30th of July, 2010!
The song, “Sinzu is Sinzu”, which was meant for a birthday release, “accidentally” leaked on a few sites over the weekend. However, this Funky House version online will NOT appear on the final cut (the beat is different).
I’ve had the privilege of listening to the album in its entirety, and I’ll tell you guys one thing: it’s TOTALLY worth the wait! Whether you’re a raphead, a party animal or just the “listening” type, you’ll find something in there that will appeal to you. Mark your calendar, guys! July 30th will be here in no time!

As a reminder, the release of the African American album will be quickly followed by a mixtape drop titled “Da RipOff”. That’s not the end; a 3 volume mixtape is also in the works. Its title will be announced at a later date. Stay with us.

The 7-Star General is revving things up in 2010 with a couple of mixtape singles in the hope of whetting the appetite of his fans. We’ve posted 2 of the mixtape joints below, including a bonus song with a new artiste, IFAN.
On the first one, Pype goes in heavily on Luther Vandross’ hit single, “Here & Now”; it almost sounds like they both recorded it together. Kudos to the Kenyan Producer, Wawesh, who wielded his magic on it. The 2nd one is Pype’s own crack at the very popular “Hold Yuh” instrumentals. Once again, Pype made it his own from start to finish. I think every DJ should have these songs to light up their gigs.

You can sense the aura, the swag (please, allow me), and the sheer class when Storm is in the building! If there’s any crew that’s allowed to use the “swag” term as often as they please, it has to be the Storm guys! This is YQ’s brand new single/video, “Dresscode” featuring Nigeria’s most glamorous rapper, Naeto C, and a very promising crooner, E-Jay (you’ve heard a few of his songs on this site) on yet another sick Sossick beat!
Director: Bobby Boulders.
Location: The Palms (Mall) in Lagos.
Special Guest Appearances: DJ Neptune, Iceberg Slim, Sossick.
In other news, YQ will finally be releasing his debut album “I Am YQ” this summer under the Storm Records/ 2Koncept Entertainment partnership. “I AM YQ” has productions from Dr Frabz, Sarz, Sossick, G Mat, Mictunes and more with features from Naeto C, Terry G, Sossick, M.I, Ice Prince, Vector, Durella, Banky W and of course his close buddy, Da Grin (RIP). We’re also told to look out for the Street Soldier’s single “Sunshine” (Iletimo).
This right here re-inforces my belief that Nigerian music can catch up with the U.S and the U.K.
Here is the video for Sasha’s ‘Making Money‘ remix, that everyone has been longing to watch after seeing a snippet on the original video. They all brought the right amount of energy to the video… LOL @ Sinzu’s continuous ‘Put your hands in the air‘ chant which surprisingly makes the song sound better.
No word yet on when Sasha’s album will drop, but I am sure it will be sooner than later.
Directed by Bobby ‘Big Budget’ Boulders who appears at the 0:57 mark.
“Storm Records would like to wish everyone a happy new year and all the best in 2010. To Celebrate the new year we present to you, a new year gift, ‘The Storm Report’, mixed By DJ Kofi and Hosted By Olisa Adibua. Back in 2006, Storm Records took Naeto C, Ikechukwu, D’Banj, Jazzman Olofi eLDee & Don Jazzy to London for the Notting Hill Carnival In London they met up with the world famous DJ Kofi. They all went back to an apartment off Edgware Road, plugged a mic into a computer and it resulted in the evolution of Naija Hip-Hop.
The session resulted in D’banj dropping some crazy freestyles, eLDee showing why he is the don of Naija Hip-Hop, Ikechukwu showing that he’s as dope as it gets and Naeto C showing why he is the P…”
I’ve been searching for most of the material on this mixtape since the WFA website shot down. Vintage KIllz and Naeto C – Priceless (these guys were some of the people that got me really into Naija music again; their music was one of the factors that inspired me to make notjustOk a music site)…
