Exclusive: YQ – EfiMile (Remix) ft. Naeto C, M.I, Banky W, eLDee, Ice Prince

Posted on August 27th, 2010 by Mola OG

The original version of this song is what brought YQ and even the late DaGrin to the lime light. Their innovative collaboration kept this song banging in people’s CDs for a while. If you watched the video for ‘Efimile‘, you saw the hunger in the young YQ during his performance and his eager anticipation to blow. Now, he has reached a respectable status in the music industry and is getting ready to drop his much anticipated ‘I AM YQ’ album under 2Koncept/Storm 360 on ground in Nigeria this weekend and online (notjustOk.com) on Monday Morning. I can personally say that I have seen YQ evolve into a stronger and more mature artiste.

As you can see, this remix here is packed with big names so you should only expect a big Tune! Listen and share your thoughts.

PREMIERE: Sossick – Back It Up ft YQ + I Git It (Ko Gbagidi)

Posted on August 12th, 2010 by Ovie O

S.O.S.S.I.C.K.!!!

The King of Hip Hop Production has dropped 2 CRAYZIE joints on us! This guy needs no introduction whatsoever. After his exploits with DaGrin on the “CEO” Album (more importantly,Pon Pon Pon), he’s now widely-regarded as one of Nigeria’s top beatmakers. It’s been a tough few months for Sossick since the passing away of his close friend, but we can now see signs of recovery with these new releases under his own Classick Tunes Label.

“Back It Up” is my jam! YQ does his thing as usual to compliment a crazy dancehall-sounding instrumental. It amazes me how Sossick went in hard on “I Git It”. This dude is officially an all-round “bad guyz!”

WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Cool2Vote Allstars – I Go Vote

Posted on July 25th, 2010 by Ovie O

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s with great pleasure we bring you guys the official Cool2Vote anthem by several stars in the Nigerian music industry titled “I Go Vote”.

“It began like it was a joke. Some said it was a dream too lofty to achieve with Nigerian artistes. Twenty (20) artistes on one track? Who was going to produce it? How was it going to happen? But as all record-breaking feats have shown, the impossible is nothing. So it happened that between Tuesday 13th July and Monday 19th July, 2010, a period of about one week,  twenty (20) Nigerian artistes converged on the Ilupeju Lagos recording studio of Delta-born music producer Magege Theophilus (Ex-O) to lend their voices to the Cool2Vote Nigeria campaign with the recording of “I Go Vote” a song with a strong undiluted message encouraging Nigerians to participate actively in the forthcoming elections  and even future elections by registering to vote and showing up at the polls to cast their ballots.

Described as Nigeria’s biggest new age collaboration, the song parades some of Nigeria’s finest music talents now fondly dubbed The Cool2Vote All Stars. They include acts like Lami Philips, Sound Sultan, Waje, Wizkid, Skales, Kel, General Pype, Denzel, Wordsmith, Timi Dakolo, Skuki, Mo Cheddah, Mtrill, Emmsong, Iyanya, YQ, Efa, Oh! and Ex-O.

Speaking about the song, National Coordinator of the Cool2Vote Nigeria Campaign, Fi’ammari Machar Zoaka was very enthusiastic that the song will deliver its intended message across board. “Whether old or young, we believe this is one song that will surely resonate with all classes of the Nigerian people and get every Nigerian of voting age to register to vote and vote. The commitment which all artistes on this song displayed during the recording is remarkable. Nigeria will forever be grateful to them for this patriotic expression of belief and hope in the possibility of a new Nigeria, he said.” As the song leaks on NotJustOK.com, it will be officially premiered at the ROCKDAVOTE MEGA JAM scheduled to hold in Ibadan on Monday 26 July, 2010 at the Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.”

cool to vote logo in w WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Cool2Vote Allstars I Go Vote

“Cool2Vote Nigeria is a not-for-profit, non-partisan coalition of Nigerian celebrities, young professionals and political leaders aimed at mobilising young Nigerians of voting age to REGISTER to vote, VOTE at the polls, and PROTECT their votes at the 2011 elections and beyond. The campaign is NOT endorsing any candidate or political party.

Born in the throes of electoral decadence, Cool2Vote Nigeria has set out to use the power of pop-culture, new social media and technology to capture the hearts and minds of young people towards political consciousness. It is inspired by the belief that young people have power like never before to shape the direction of their nations by their participation in the electoral process as exemplified by the 2008 presidential campaign of Barack Obama.”

It’s always a good thing to see positivity in music. Shout-out to all the stars involved in this massive project.

“Nigeria no go jagajaga if we join our hands to make am better!”

VIDEO Premiere: YQ – Dresscode ft Naeto C & E-Jay

Posted on June 3rd, 2010 by Ovie O

You can sense the aura, the swag (please, allow me), and the sheer class when Storm is in the building! If there’s any crew that’s allowed to use the “swag” term as often as they please, it has to be the Storm guys! This is YQ’s brand new single/video, “Dresscode” featuring Nigeria’s most glamorous rapper, Naeto C, and a very promising crooner, E-Jay (you’ve heard a few of his songs on this site) on yet another sick Sossick beat!

Director: Bobby Boulders.

Location: The Palms (Mall) in Lagos.

Special Guest Appearances: DJ Neptune, Iceberg Slim, Sossick.

In other news, YQ will finally be releasing his debut album “I Am YQ” this summer under the Storm Records/ 2Koncept Entertainment partnership. “I AM YQ” has productions from Dr Frabz, Sarz, Sossick, G Mat, Mictunes and more with features from Naeto C, Terry G, Sossick, M.I, Ice Prince, Vector, Durella, Banky W and of course his close buddy, Da Grin (RIP). We’re also told to look out for the Street Soldier’s single “Sunshine” (Iletimo).

This right here re-inforces my belief that Nigerian music can catch up with the U.S and the U.K.

Chelle ft YQ & Sound Sultan – Opon Ti Sun (Remix)

Posted on February 26th, 2010 by Mola OG

Chelle really went in on the remix of ‘Opo Ti Sun‘… Listen to the original track

The remix is more fast paced and Chelle uses her vocals on the hook which makes the track sound even better. The growth in her delivery is obvious; Sound Sultan and YQ also did their thing as usual.

Nollege ft YQ – Live It Up (The Street Anthem)

Posted on December 6th, 2009 by Ovie O

For those who have been with us over the last few months, you should remember Nollege, the guy who put out the tune “Owo Mi Ti Poju,” albeit with a tad bit of controversy attached to it. Here’s his new joint with street crooner, YQ.

Nollege is currently working on a solo project, but he’s still fully committed to the Apexx movement.
